Couchdrop Cloud SMB enables you to connect your SMB server to the cloud. This enables you to migrate, backup and replicate your SMB to your chosen cloud storage such as S3, Backblaze, Wasabi, OneDrive, etc.
Couchdrop SMB/CIFS offers a secure and trustworthy means of transporting your files to and from the cloud by using an SSH tunnel. This prevents the need to open up ports to the internet and to also ensure that data in transit is secured with a highly secure tunnel.
Once you have an SMB share ready, navigate to your Couchdrop Portal and navigate to your Storage on the left navigation menu
Click Connect Storage and select SMB/CIFS from the dropdown
You will need the following information to complete the SMB/CIFS connection:
Path | Optional - This is the mount path for where this bucket will sit within your Couchdrop virtual file system. If left blank, it will become the root directory. |
Sub Path | Optional - Use this if you need to access a sub path/folder within your storage and have this set as your 'root' location within your storage bucket. |
IP Address | The IP Address or Hostname of your SMB Share |
Netbios Hostname | The Netbios Hostname of your SMB/CIFS server |
Share Path | The Share Path |
Credentials | The Username and Password for your SMB/CIFS server |
Ports | For access to the SMB server by default you should have TCP ports 445 and 139 enabled on your firewall for SMB/CIFS |
Direct TCP | Enabled/Disabled |
Timeout of Connection | In seconds |
Couchdrop also offers you the ability to establish a secure connection to your SMB/CIFS through an SSH Tunnel, avoiding the need to open your file server to the internet and also to ensure that all transfers are secured.
For this tick Connect via SSH Tunnel and provide the following:
SSH Tunnel Endpoint |
SSH Tunnel Username |
SSH Tunnel Password |
Once configured, click Save and the integration is complete. You can begin transferring files between your SMB/CIFS and Cloud Storage using Couchdrop.
