Today we are publicly announcing support for read access, customisable permissions, multiple storage providers and RSA keys for additional users.
Couchdrop is the easy-to-use Cloud SCP server that integrates with Dropbox, Amazon S3 and WebDAV to provide a truly one-click SCP solution that works with your existing cloud data storage.
Read Support
Initially, Couchdrop only supported uploading files. Upload only support offered a secure way to push files to Dropbox from your server, but demand for Read support has been high and so today we are announcing support for this as well.
Read support means you can download files that were uploaded with Couchdrop, but also download files that already exist in Dropbox or your other storage provider.
Customisable Permissions
Along with Read support, we believe it's very important that you can limit access to your storage. Customisable permissions mean that Couchdrop can be used as a Write only SCP server to Dropbox or other storage engines.
This is perfect as a cloud backup solution as it means that if servers are compromised, the attackers won't get access to historical backups or other sensitive files that may be stored in your storage. On the flipside, using Read only access can be perfect for sharing data and protecting against accidental overrides and spamming.
Permissions can be managed on individual storage or by user account. For additional accounts, Write only access is default.

Multiple Storage Providers
Prior to this release, it was possible to only configure one Storage Provider. With this release, it's now possible to configure different Storage Providers with different root paths and permissions. This facility means you could use both Amazon S3 and Dropbox with one Couchdrop account. Providers have a unique root path that allows you to choose which provider to upload/download files from when using the SCP command.
